MomME Time: Girls' Weekend Trip to Chicago

I love travelling and am always looking for new, exciting places to visit. This year my mom and I decided to go on a week-long getaway to Chicago. It was our first time going to "The Windy City," and it definitely won't be our last. From rooftop restaurants to 7-story shopping malls, this lively city has it all. If you're looking for your next vacation destination, I highly suggest you consider Chicago. Whether you’re looking for a girl’s weekend trip or some MUCH deserved and needed momME time, here are some of my top picks for things to do in this awesome city:

The Bean/Millennium Park

If you've heard anything about Chicago, then you've heard of "the Bean." Located in the city's Millennium Park, this bean-shaped structure is formally called the Cloud Gate. It's a great photo op and a site you'll definitely want to see. Millennium Park also features several other popular attractions including the Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden and Millennium Monument. This is the perfect place to stop by for a glimpse at some of the city's best art and architecture.

Architecture River Tour

Chicago is known for its famous landmarks and incredible architecture. One of the best ways to learn about the city's most renowned buildings is to take a boat tour along the Chicago River. There are several boat tours to choose from and most offer both daytime and nighttime excursions. My mom and I opted for a daytime tour and absolutely loved it. Whether you're an architecture buff or not, this is a great way to relax and enjoy the beautiful views Chicago has to offer.

Skydeck at Willis Tower

The Skydeck is a hot spot for many tourists, and for good reason. It is located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower which happens to be the tallest building in the Western hemisphere. The Skydeck gives people the opportunity to walk out on the Ledge, a glass box that reaches out 4.3 feet from the building itself. As you can imagine, the Skydeck offers people an unforgettable way to view the city. So, push your fear of heights aside and put the Skydeck on the top of your list for places to go in Chicago.

Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile takes up 13 blocks of perhaps Chicago's most famous street - Michigan Avenue. It includes a multitude of hotels, retail stores and fine-dining restaurants. Trust me when I say you can spend an entire day walking through the Magnificent Mile. If you're looking to go on a shopping spree or simply window shop, this is the prime place to go in Chicago.
